Next weekend’s NHL draft could be historic for Miami hockey.

Poised to be selected earlier than any other former draftee in RedHawks history is sophomore-to-be Ilia Morozov, who recorded 20 points last season as the youngest player in college hockey.
Morozov, who turns 18 in August, is a projected first-round pick, and most mock drafts have him being picked between 10th and 25th overall.
The highest any RedHawk has been drafted is 22nd.
Morozov finished his freshman year with eight goals and 12 assists. He would be the fourth first-round selection ever to play for the RedHawks.
The others are Kevyn Adams, Tyler Biggs and Jack Roslovic.
Biggs was picked in the 22 slot by Toronto in 2011, the earliest a Miamian was ever taken in the draft.
Adams was taken by the Boston Bruins 25th overall in 1992, and Roslovic was also nabbed with the 25th selection by Winnipeg in 2015.
Also, incoming defenseman Tim Runtso is expected to be drafted in the second or third round. Runtso went 11-33-44 for WHL Victoria, leading all Royals blueliners in points and finishing third in the league among rookie D-men.
