As the underdog each time these teams have met, Robert Morris has had Miami’s number the past 16 years, and that number is 5 — the Colonials’ winning streak over the RedHawks.

RMU swept Miami two years ago in a similar Thursday-Saturday home-and-home when these teams last sparred.
VFG takes a look at the upcoming series:

WHERE: Thursday — Cady Arena (3,049), Oxford, Ohio; Saturday — Clearview Arena (1,859), Neville Island, Pa.
WHEN: Thursday — 7:05 p.m.; Saturday — 7 p.m.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Robert Morris leads, 5-4.
VIDEO STREAMING: Flosports.tv.
MIAMI RADIO: Miamiredhawks.com (Greg Waddell, PxP).
NOTES: In an act of utter stupidity, Robert Morris’ president unilaterally shut down his hockey program in 2021 on little notice, and three years after its resurrection, the only Pittsburgh-metro Division I club reached its post-dormancy win-total high last season with 16.
Amazingly, head coach Derek Schooley has overseen the program since its Division I inception in 2004-05, and he returned after Robert Morris reactivated its hockey team.
The Colonials were swept by Wisconsin to open the season last weekend.
Despite the losses, sophomore goalie Charlie Schenkel stopped 76 of 81 shots for a .938 save percentage in the weekend series, and he posted a .909 save rate in 30 games for Robert Morris last season.
Two of the Colonials’ 25-point scorers return in seniors Jackson Reineke (11-15-26) and Cameron Garvey (11-14-25).
Michael Felsling, Trent Wilson, Patrick Johnson and George Krotiris were also significant contributors up front last season.
Dominic Elliott is Robert Morris’ top returning defenseman, having notched six goals and 13 assists last season. John Babcock finished 4-9-13.
Kritoris and Elliott have RMU’s goals so far.
Miami won the first four games in this all-time series but has dropped five straight to Robert Morris, with its last win over the Colonials coming on Feb. 17, 2006.
RMU pulled off an unlikely sweep of the RedHawks during MU’s Frozen Four 2009-10 campaign, and they shut out Miami in the final of the Three Rivers Classic in Pittsburgh.
The RedHawks were outscored, 9-2 by RMU in 2024-25, the first season the Colonials brought back hockey.
This will be the RedHawks’ first non-Friday or Saturday home opener in team history.
Miami split at Northern Michigan two weeks ago, losing the opener, 3-0 and winning 4-1 in the finale.
The RedHawks are hoping that David Deputy, Tim Runtso and Vladislav Lukashevich — all key players who were unavailable in Marquette — are available for this series.
