Miami finally has a captain.

After the RedHawks played all of last season without any skater wearing a letter, Doug Grimes will don the ‘C’ for the RedHawks in 2026-27, the team announced on Thursday.
Grimes transferred to Miami prior to last season after dressing just 38 times in two campaigns with Boston University.
He thrived immediately in Oxford, recording points in seven of the RedHawks’ first eight games — including a seven-game points streak — and playing in all of the Miami’s 36 games in 2025-26.
Grimes finished 10-8-18 with a plus-4 rating.
Sophomores Ethan Hay and Bradley Walker — both of whom are also forwards — were named alternate captains.

Hay played in 35 games last season, scoring four goals and assisting on 12 others. Walker went 3-3-6 in 30 contests.
Miami has played without alternate captains numerous times — most recently in 2022-23 — but last season was the first time in team history the RedHawks did not have a single player wear a letter.
