Now that we are in the midst of a record setting performance with seemingly little prospects of the bleeding stopping this season, it would be interesting to see a commentary of how and why the program has reached this historic low over the past decade or so. I enjoy your insights and writing and would just love to hear your opinion on the drivers of Miami becoming the NCHC doormat and NCAA D1 cellar dweller.

      I typically write an autopsy after each season and move on. Here’s what I posted in March: Season wrap: What’s next for MU hockey? – View From the Glass

      I don’t really want to live in the past and beat up previous staffs and players who I wholeheartedly believe tried their very hardest to rejuvenate the program.

      But it has been a recurring theme over the past decade: Recruiting fell off a cliff and players that have come to Oxford largely haven’t improved and have regressed in some cases.

      And Noreen has talked extensively about conditioning needing to improve, as a country club mentality has permeated the program.

      Fortunately, I truly believe Noreen will turn this program around, but he was never going to do it in a year.
