Anthony Noreen will be the seventh head coach in Miami hockey history.

MU has hired the 41-year-old coach and president of hockey operations of USHL Tri-City, Mike McMahon of College Hockey Insider reported.

The three-time USHL coach of the year has been a head coach for the past 13 seasons, taking over that role with the Storm in 2017.

The 2007 Wisconsin-Stevens Point graduate and team captain remained at his alma mater as an assistant for three seasons before accepting the same job with USHL Youngstown.

He was promoted to head coach of the Phantoms after just one season and spent four more years there, earning coach of the year honors in the top Division I feeder league.

Noreen joined Tri-City in 2017 and has been named the league’s top coach two more times, following a two-year stint behind the bench for ECHL Orlando.

He takes over a Miami program that has finished last in the NCHC three straight seasons and set an all-time league futility record by winning just one conference game this past campaign.
