Miami has taken the O in Omaha far too seriously in recent years.
The RedHawks have scored just four goals in their last five meetings with the Mavericks and are averaging 1.1 markers during their current 10-game losing streak vs. Omaha.

NOTES: While many teams took extended breaks and limited their schedules over the holidays, Omaha has played nine games since Dec. 1 as well as an exhibition, and the Mavericks have dropped three of their first four to open 2026.
By comparison, Miami has hit the ice just four times in the past five weeks and should be better rested.
Omaha has been a score-by-committee team and has benefitted tremendously from the new rule allowing CHL players to dress for NCAA teams.
Eight skaters already have reached double digits in points, but former QMJHL star Maxime Pellerin leads the team with 15, including a Mavericks-best seven goals..
Another Q product — Luke Woodworth — is Omaha’s second-best points producer with 14, and leads all forwards with 11 assists.
WHL standout and Anaheim draftee Sean Tschigerl has posted big-time points totals at every level and is 4-7-11 in his first season with the Mavericks.
Fellow sophomores Trevor Wong and Brett Hyland have notched 10 points apiece up front.
Senior Griffin Ludtke leads all defensemen in points with 11, all on assists, and 6-feet-6 WHL product Marc Lajoie has five goals and five assists from the blue line.
In net, another WHL standout, Dawson Cowan, has taken over the starting job. He has a 2.94 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
Simon Latkoczy drove NCHC forwards to the brink of insanity for three seasons, but his career save percentage of nearly .920 entering 2025-26 has taken a serious hit, as he’s at .895 with a 3.56 goals-against average, relegating him to backup duty.
Miami hasn’t beaten Omaha since Feb. 12, 2022. That win was in Oxford, but the RedHawks have lost six straight on home ice vs. the Mavericks since.
Omaha has struggled on the penalty kill, shutting down power plays at just a 72.0-percent rate — the fifth-worst clip in Division I.
The Mavericks also average 13.7 penalty minutes, sixth-most in the NCAA.
