Saturday night was one of the most memorable of Reilly Smith’s NHL career.

The Vegas forward and former Miami standout scored twice, including a dramatic game winner with 0.4 seconds left in regulation, lifting the Golden Knights to a 4-3 win in the Stanley Cup conference semifinals.

It was just the third time in the century-plus history of the Stanley Cup playoffs that a game-winning goal was scored in the final second of regulation, and it was his second goal of the contest.

But from a Miami perspective, his first goal of the game holds more historic significance.

That marker represented Smith’s 82nd career point in the Stanley Cup playoffs, breaking Dan Boyle’s record of 81 established in 1998.

Smith and Jack Roslovic are the lone former Miamians still alive in the NHL postseason.

Smith has three goals and an assist in nine playoff games with Vegas, and Roslovic picked up a goal and an assist in Carolina’s 4-1 win over New Jersey on Saturday.

Roslovic is now 3-13-16 in 41 postseason contests.

Smith is tied with Brian Savage for ninth on Miami’s all-time goals leaderboard with 66 despite turning pro after his junior season, including 12 game winners.

Roslovic, a Winnipeg first-round draft pick, turned pro after going 10-16-26 in his freshman season at Miami in 2015-16.
