Miami dominated Omaha during the pandemic era, going 8-2-1 in a three-year span starting in February 2019.

But the Mavericks have won their last six meetings with the RedHawks the past two seasons including three straight in Baxter Arena.
VFG takes a look at the upcoming series:
WHO: Miami RedHawks (3-9-2) at Omaha Mavericks (3-7).
WHERE: Baxter Arena (7,898), Omaha, Neb.
WHEN: Both nights — 8:07 p.m.
ALL-TIME SERIES: Miami leads, 29-27-7.
VIDEO STREAMING: NCHC.tv ($).
MIAMI RADIO STREAMING: MiamiRedHawks.com (Greg Waddell PxP).
MIAMI RADIO: WBKV-AM (1490), Richmond, Ind.
OMAHA RADIO: KOIL-AM (1290), Omaha, Neb.
NOTES: Miami is averaging 2.14 goals, 53rd out of 64 teams in the NCHC.
But Omaha’s offensive struggles have been even more severe, as the Mavericks have scored just 18 times in 10 games, a 1.80 clip that’s the fourth-worst in Division I.
And leading scorer Zach Urdahl, a senior forward who has five goals and two assists in nine games, was out Saturday and is questionable for this weekend.
Fellow Wisconsin transfer Sam Stange has also been a force up front with four goals and a helper after dressing just seven times for the Badgers in 2023-24 and not recording a point.
Only one other UNO forward — graduate Harrison Israels — has recorded three points. Israels is 2-1-3 after netting 20 goals with Alaska last season.
Junior Jake Guevin is Nebraska-Omaha’s top defenseman, going 2-4-6 while quarterbacking the power play and racking up 37 points in two-plus seasons with the Mavericks.
Guevin and fifth-year UNO senior Nolan Krenzen both average over 21 minutes a game on the blueline, and Krenzen has had a plus rating three straight seasons.
Starting goalie Simon Latkoczy has been stellar in net and deserves a better fate than a 3-6 record. He has a 2.35 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage that is 14th-best in the NCAA.
Following an Ice Breaker championship in Nevada to open the season, with wins over UMass and now fourth-ranked Minnesota, Omaha has dropped seven of eight and has scored just 13 goals in that span, an average of just 1.63.
UNO hasn’t won on home ice this season, as the Mavericks are 0-4 at Baxter after being swept by Augustana (!) and Western Michigan, and they even lost their exhibition vs. Wisconsin in their own rink.
Miami hasn’t won a road game this calendar year, and these are the RedHawks’ last two away games of 2024.
The RedHawks are 0-5-1 on the road this season after finishing 2023-24 with a 0-9-1 away record once the calendar flipped to 2024. That’s an 0-14-2 record for the year away from Oxford.
MU’s last road win was Dec. 30, 2022 at Niagara.
RedHawks forward Max Dukovac, who left last Friday’s game after being kneed, is unavailable this weekend.
