Reilly Smith, an original member of the Golden Knights, skated the Cup for the first time as Vegas downed Florida in five games, clinching the series at home on Tuesday.

In addition to Martinez becoming Miami’s first-ever three-time Cup champion, this was the first time two former RedHawks won the Stanley Cup on the same team.

Fourteen-season NHL veteran Martinez skated the NHL’s biggest trophy with Los Angeles in 2012 and 2014. Smith, on his fifth team in 12 campaigns, has played in 87 playoff games since joining the expansion Golden Knights in 2017.

Smith is just the sixth player in Miami history to hoist the Stanley Cup. His 25 postseason goals are the most-ever by a former RedHawk, and he is second only to Dan Boyle in NHL playoff points with 77.

Martinez is second among Miamians in all-time playoff games played to Boyle with 124, and he is third to Smith and Boyle in postseason goals with 13.

Both Smith and Martinez scored in the 9-3 clincher.
